  8. Q:  How do I connect the NeXT to a projector or external video screen?\
  9. \
  10. A:  There are two solutions as of March 1990, both made by Extron Electronics:\

  12. [1] The Extron RGB 111 NeXT Computer Interface\
  13. \
  14. This box simply intercepts the video signal on the way to the Megapixel display, buffers it, and sends it to BNC connectors.  The advantages of this box are:\
  15. \
  16. \
  17. - it's relatively inexpensive: it currently costs $370 (price as of March 1990).  Its disadvantage is that the NeXT video signal has a high bandwidth of 63KHz, and can only be used with projectors and monitors that can handle the high bandwidth:\

  39. This board plugs into the NeXT cube alongside the
  40. \b  68030-based CPU board
  41. \b0 .  It converts the high-bandwidth NeXT video signal of 63KHz to a standard 31KHz signal which can be used with almost any standard video device.\

The advantage (as noted) is that this board will talk with almost any standard video output device, including a wide range of projectors and monitors.  However, this solution is more expensive than [1].  The NeXT CPU board must be modified (a connector gets soldered onto the board), and the modification must be done at an authorized service center.    This board will not work with any of the 68040-based products\
